Police revealed the chronology of a shocking murder case in Kedung Dalem, Mauk District, Tangerang Regency, where a father was killed by his own son.
The perpetrator, who was upset because he wasn’t given money to buy cigarettes, suddenly took a hoe and struck the victim in the face while he was sleeping.
The victim was first found dead by his wife around 12:00 PM local time. At that time, the wife had just returned from work to deliver food to the house.
However, upon entering the house, she was shocked to see her husband lying lifeless on the floor and covered with a cloth.
“When the cloth was removed, the victim was seen in a bloodied condition with a severe wound on his face,” explained the police chief.
Crime scene investigation revealed that the victim suffered a deep laceration on his face from the hoe strike. The hoe was subsequently seized as evidence by the police.
“The victim, identified by the initials AT, was determined to have been killed at the location using a hoe as the weapon,” stated the police chief.
In a recent development, it was revealed that the perpetrator had previously received treatment at a mental hospital in Jakarta in 2023.
The perpetrator has now been named a suspect and is being held at the Mauk Police Station while awaiting a psychiatric examination to determine his mental condition.
“We will conduct an examination by psychiatric experts to determine whether the perpetrator genuinely suffers from mental disorders or not,” he stated.
In addition to the hoe, police also seized the covering cloth and the victim’s clothing as evidence. For his actions, the perpetrator faces charges under Article 338 of the Criminal Code regarding murder, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
