Heavy rain in Tangerang City and surrounding areas has caused flooding in several locations since Sunday night, June 6, 2025. The incident has even been reported by Malaysian media.

The flooding in Tangerang was broadcast by TV3, the third oldest private television station in Malaysia.

The news segment showed several videos of flood conditions in Tangerang due to the overflow of the Cisadane River.

It was reported that around 700 homes with 2,275 residents were affected by floods reaching 40 to 60 centimeters in height.

This sparked various reactions from netizens on social media platform X.

“Wow, Tangerang is going international. But why does it have to be bad news? Where are the Governor of Banten and the mayors of Tangerang and South Tangerang? Floods like this happen while housing developments are popping up everywhere,” wrote one user.

“HAHAHA TANGERANG IS WORLD-FAMOUS NOW,” posted another.

“I swear… I live in Tangerang City. This city is really on autopilot. Feels like we don’t even have a mayor,” commented a resident.

“When it gets this bad, do you think the government will actually evaluate or just stay silent?” another user joked.

The floods submerged areas of Tangerang City, South Tangerang, and Tangerang Regency until early Monday morning, July 7, 2025.

High rainfall intensity combined with water runoff from Bogor caused rivers to overflow into residential areas. Poor drainage systems worsened the flooding.

In Pinang Griya, Tangerang District, Tangerang City, disaster management personnel evacuated several residents, particularly the elderly, due to floods reaching 1.2 meters in height.
