Masjid Raya Baitul Mukhtar BSD City

The Masjid Raya Baitul Mukhtar, built by Sinar Mas Land through the Sinar Mas Land Muslim Foundation (YMSML), has been opened to the public on Friday, August 29, 2025.

Strategically located in the center of West BSD City, Pagedangan, Tangerang Regency, this mosque was built on a 2.2-hectare plot with a building area of 9,581 m2, and can accommodate up to 7,000 worshippers.

Masjid Raya Baitul Mukhtar features a contemporary design and architecture that blends Islamic values with local wisdom.

The mosque’s roof is inspired by the traditional Javanese Joglo style with five levels representing the spiritual journey of the faithful, from Muslimin to Muttaqin, and also symbolizing the five pillars of Islam.

The mihrab area adapts the shape of the Ka’bah, complemented by a facade featuring Islamic geometric patterns and Banten Batik. On the exterior of the building, a 33 x 33 meter second skin facade is installed, symbolizing the number of beads on a tasbih.

The 45-meter minaret of Masjid Raya Baitul Mukhtar is also designed with a touch of local wisdom, showcasing a diamond shape as a local characteristic inspired by the Sabakingking pattern of Banten Batik.

Masjid Raya Baitul Mukhtar has a multipurpose room that can be used for community religious social activities, with a capacity of 1,200 people.

The mosque, which can accommodate parking for 297 cars, 200 motorcycles, and 4 buses, has ablution facilities for 140 people.

It is hoped that this mosque will not only be a place of worship for Muslims but will also become a place to cultivate future national and community leaders who are capable of spreading values of goodness.

“By praying to Allah SWT, may this mosque become one of the icons in Banten that is not only beautiful and large but also a magnet of attraction for the goodness of all the faithful,” it was said during the inauguration.

It was explained that Indonesia has the largest number of mosques in the entire world, reaching 800,000.

It is hoped that with the presence of Masjid Raya Baitul Mukhtar BSD City, it can become a center for worship and community social activities while also revitalizing economic potential through various social activities.

“Thanks were expressed to the Sinar Mas Muslim Foundation for presenting this mosque and for presenting initiatives that are beneficial to the community,” it was clarified.

It was conveyed that this mosque is a tangible manifestation of the commitment to providing proper and comfortable worship facilities for the community.

Its presence further strengthens the role of BSD City as an independent city that prioritizes the quality of life of its residents.

“Equipped with an open plaza for various Muslim community activities, it is hoped that this mosque becomes a center for religious activities that brings blessings, strengthens fellowship, builds harmony, and supports the worship of Muslims in BSD City, Tangerang Regency,” it was stated.

It was stated that the existence of Masjid Raya Baitul Mukhtar aligns with the role of YMSML, which always acts as a driving force in instilling Islamic values within the larger Sinar Mas family.

This mosque will also stand alongside the Santo Benedictus Church, which will be built by the Archdiocese of Jakarta. The presence of these two adjacent houses of worship is hoped to become a tangible symbol of tolerance and diversity.

“This magnificent mosque is not merely a worship facility but also a symbol of brotherhood, a learning center, and a space for fellowship that will bring blessings to the surrounding community,” it was said.
