Regular flooding in the Permata 2 Housing Complex, Balaraja, Tangerang Regency, is caused by technical issues and community behavior.

This is based on findings during a direct inspection of the location.

During the visit, it was found that the narrowing of water channels or drains, which obstructs the flow, is the main cause. Additionally, residents have covered the drains with concrete, making them impossible to clean.

“We need collective awareness to ensure water channels are not covered or concreted. All these improvements are for the benefit of the wider community,” it was stated.

It was emphasized that flood management requires collaboration across multiple parties, not just the government.

As a follow-up, it was explained that immediate technical steps will be taken. The plan is for the government to enlarge the water channels and construct a water reservoir on vacant land.

“These efforts are expected to reduce puddles and speed up water receding,” it was explained.

The visit not only sought structural solutions but also served as a moment to educate the public about the importance of maintaining the function of water channels so that flood management can be effective and sustainable.
