TANGERANG – The Mayor of Tangerang, Arief R Wismansyah, has requested the judging panel overseeing the 20th Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) to also contribute to the development of the Tilawatil Quran Development Institute (LPTQ) at the sub-district level.

This expectation was expressed by Arief after inaugurating 125 judges for the 20th MTQ at the Tangerang City level, which will take place in Pinang District from October 16 to 19.

“The goal is to encourage the community to revive and support the ‘Maghrib Mengaji’ initiative. It also serves as a foundation for expanding LPTQ’s role within society,” said Arief after swearing in the judges at the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) building in Tangerang City.

Following the inauguration of the MTQ judges, Arief added that he would also inaugurate LPTQ representatives across all 104 sub-districts in Tangerang City. On this occasion, he also explained why the judges were sworn in earlier than usual.

“The inauguration of judges typically coincides with the opening ceremony. However, we intentionally moved it forward so that on the event day, the introductory parade and MTQ opening can proceed smoothly,” Arief explained.

He expressed hope that the 20th Tangerang City MTQ would proceed in an orderly and successful manner. He also urged the judging panel to perform their duties to the best of their abilities.
