TUBAN – The commitment to strengthening the village economy through the formation of the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDMP) is beginning to yield real results. In a virtual dialogue with regional leaders across Indonesia, Prabowo paid special attention to East Java Province, which recorded the highest number of active KDMPs nationally.
Out of 103 cooperatives now officially operating, 23 are located in East Java. The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, stated that this achievement is not just about readiness but has reached full operational status.
“All KDMPs in East Java are already running. This proves that East Java is at the forefront of supporting President Prabowo’s grand vision,” said Khofifah during her inspection of the KDMP in Pucangan Village, Montong District, Tuban Regency.
The KDMP program does not stand alone. Several strategic state-owned enterprises, including Bulog, Pertamina, Pupuk Indonesia, and Pos Indonesia, are actively involved in supporting the food and energy distribution chain. KDMP outlets have now become community service centers in rural areas, providing basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, LPG, sugar, and Pertashop fuel.
“The presence of this cooperative is the result of extraordinary teamwork. The Tuban Regent, village heads, Bulog, and various other partners have worked hard to accelerate the process of establishing legally recognized cooperatives,” added Khofifah.
Residents’ enthusiasm was evident during an affordable market event held at the Pucangan KDMP. Hundreds of staple food packages sold out quickly. Rice was priced at Rp35,000 per 5 kg, eggs at Rp22,000 per kg, cooking oil at Rp13,000 per liter, and granulated sugar at Rp15,000 per kg.
“Thank God, the prices are much cheaper. We can buy eggs and cooking oil without having to go far to the market,” said Siti Sholikah, a resident of Pucangan.
She hopes the KDMP can continue to serve as a solution for affordable basic needs while boosting the village economy.
After inspecting the KDMP, Governor Khofifah, along with Tuban Regent Aditya Halindra Faridzky, continued the event by distributing agricultural machinery assistance to several villages. The first assistance was handed over to the Head of Pucangan Village, followed by distributions in Temandang Village, Merakurak District.
The event also included the inauguration of the People’s School at the Krido Manunggal Hall and the provision of assistance to persons with disabilities in Tuban.
