The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Serdang Bedagai Police uncovered a series of theft crimes, ranging from J&T Express delivery packages, motorcycles, to one dump truck unit.
The first case was an aggravated theft that befell PT Kencana Logistik Samudera. Approximately 4 to 6 large sacks containing J&T Express packages went missing from a box truck with license plate B 9193 CCI while the driver and his assistant were resting in Pon Village, Sei Bamban District, on Tuesday around 04:00 WIB.
As a result of the incident, the estimated losses reached Rp 50 million. Two suspects, Alfa Alkatani alias Kopet (18) and Uka Purnama Gusti alias Uka (25), were successfully apprehended. Both are residents of Hamlet I, Pon Village.
During further investigation, the Criminal Investigation Unit also uncovered a case of theft of a Yamaha Vega R motorcycle with license plate BK 5923 IH, which disappeared while parked at Rest Area B Teluk Mengkudu, with losses of around Rp 6 million.
In addition, one Mitsubishi dump truck with license plate BK 9275 YM, owned by a resident of Sei Buluh, was also lost while parked not far from the owner’s house. Total losses in this case reached Rp 250 million.
Another suspect, Isnen alias Senen, was arrested on Friday in Simpang Tiga Pekan Village, Perbaungan, by the Criminal Investigation Unit’s operations team.
From the suspect, police confiscated the clothes and sandals used during the action. During interrogation, he admitted to all his actions, including selling the stolen motorcycle for Rp 1.5 million for daily needs and to buy drugs.
Meanwhile, in the dump truck case, the suspect admitted it was easy to steal the vehicle because the ignition key was still in place.
Police also secured evidence in the form of one short-sleeved black shirt, one pair of black trousers, and a pair of flip-flops.
The police stated that they had processed the crime scene, examined witnesses and the reporter, and immediately arrested the suspects. The case files will soon be submitted to the Public Prosecutor, and the investigators have issued a notice of completion of the investigation file.
“There are two cases of aggravated theft that we have uncovered and successfully arrested three perpetrators from different cases. We are still pursuing the other perpetrators,” explained the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit.
The Police Chief reaffirmed his commitment to taking firm action against any form of theft crime within his jurisdiction.
