El Adrian Shah has been re-elected to lead the Hanura Party in North Sumatra (Sumut). He was elected by acclamation as Chairman of the Hanura North Sumatra DPD for the 2025-2030 term during the IV Regional Conference (Musda) held at the Grand Mercure Hotel on Perintis Kemerdekaan Street, Medan, Sunday (20/7/2025). In this conference, El Adrian was the sole candidate.

The IV Regional Conference of Hanura Party’s North Sumatra DPD was attended by the Deputy Chairman of Hanura’s Central Executive Board (DPP), Patrice Rio Capella; Deputy Chairman for Natural Resources, Agrarian Affairs, and Environment, Lili Pintauli Siregar; Secretary-General for Ideology and Politics, Ratna Ester Limbantobing; Regional Coordinator I for Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, Dasril; and Chairman of DPP Lasmura, Heru Mergi Pangestu.

Also present were officials from the North Sumatra DPD, including Secretary Riri Stephanie Siregar and Treasurer Syaiful Amri. Additionally, the Chairman of the IV Regional Conference Committee, Mahmudin Hamzah Sinaga; Committee Treasurer Nevrada Ginting; and Chairman of Hanura Lasmura North Sumatra Aldi Syahputra Siregar attended. Members of the North Sumatra DPRD, regency/city councils, and Hanura Party branch leaders across North Sumatra were also present.

In his speech, Rio Capella stated that regional conferences within political parties, particularly Hanura, are not merely about selecting new leaders or holding ceremonial events every five years. Instead, they serve as a starting point for strategic steps the party must take.

One of the goals is to prepare for the upcoming elections and strive toward reaching Senayan by 2029.

“The IV Regional Conference of Hanura’s North Sumatra DPD must be the starting point in determining strategies for the 2029 elections to secure as many legislative seats as possible in regency/city, provincial, and national DPRs,” said Rio Capella.

Rio explained that Hanura’s regional conference also aims to champion the vision of a ‘prosperous Indonesia with thriving regions.’

All Hanura cadres nationwide must fight for this vision so that no remote areas remain categorized as poor and underdeveloped due to lack of government attention and development facilities.

Rio acknowledged that Hanura North Sumatra differs from other regions. The spirit of struggle was evident from the welcoming atmosphere to the conference proceedings.

“This atmosphere cannot be fabricated or created spontaneously. I believe El Adrian Shah has cadres and supporters whose fighting spirit is unquestionable. The DPP is confident that El and his team can make Hanura North Sumatra a stronghold for legislative seats in regency/city, provincial, and national DPRs in the 2029 elections,” he emphasized.

El Adrian, the newly elected Chairman of Hanura’s North Sumatra DPD for 2025-2030, stated that he has always remained open to all branch leaders. Direct communication has been well-maintained until the end of the previous term.

“I hope this unity remains intact, as it will be our ‘capital’ in fighting for the 2029 elections. Honesty is a crucial foundation in our spirit to strengthen Hanura in North Sumatra. I also realize that I cannot work alone, as the branches are the frontline of Hanura’s success in the 2029 elections,” he explained.

El Adrian Shah emphasized that he will focus on strengthening Hanura branches across North Sumatra. Attention as DPD Chairman is vital for the lower ranks.

“Without attention, support, and good cooperation, Hanura in North Sumatra cannot perform optimally or increase legislative seats in the 2029 elections,” El stated.

El Adrian mentioned that since his election in Hanura North Sumatra’s extraordinary conference years ago, he has continuously worked to strengthen the party’s grassroots by consolidating all branches in regencies/cities to unify ranks and support all cadres for the 2024 elections.

“I remember years ago when my father, Kodrat Shah, asked me to participate in Hanura North Sumatra’s extraordinary conference. I was shocked because this
