A relieved smile shines on the face of Rohman (52), a small merchant in Patramanggala Village, Kemiri District, Tangerang Regency. After years of living in a dilapidated house, he can now rest in a more decent dwelling.

Rohman and his family’s house, which could collapse at any time, has now been repaired and become more suitable for living.

“When it rained heavily before, we often worked together to catch water in buckets. Now the roof is strong, there is a new mattress, table and chairs, everything feels more humane. I feel like my life has truly started again,” said Rohman.

Similar happiness is also felt by several other residents who had the opportunity to have their houses renovated through the home renovation program.

Homes that were previously cramped and prone to leaks now stand stronger with simple yet functional facilities.

This renovation was initiated through collaboration with PIK2, the Indonesian Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation, leading tenants in the Indonesia Design District (IDD) such as BIKA Living, Sleep & Co, Juno Home, TOTO, and the care of Escalier Interior.

Houses that were once cramped and uninhabitable now stand stronger, complete with furniture that adds comfort.

They donated furniture and household supplies to meet the basic needs of residents.

The Business Development Director emphasized that the home renovation effort does not only bring about the physical building.

“Every house that stands again plants new seeds of happiness, providing a dwelling that is not only decent, but also full of meaning through a series of CSR PIK2 home renovation processes,” he concluded.
