Depok

Trapped in online loan debt, a woman named Tasya Khairani created a scenario as if she had been mugged and filed a police report. In reality, she had sold her motorcycle to a neighbor to pay off her debt.

The incident occurred in Beji, Depok. She sold her motorcycle for Rp 13 million to her neighbor and used the money to pay off the debt.

“The motorcycle was not lost, but rather sold to her neighbor for Rp 13 million. The money from the sale was used to pay off the online loan debt,” said the Head of Public Relations for the Depok Metro Police.

The woman’s motive for making the false report was that she did not want her parents to find out that she had sold her motorcycle.

“(The motive was) To pay off the online loan debt, but she didn’t have enough money. (She filed the report) so her parents wouldn’t find out she sold the motorcycle,” he said.

Not only did she make a false report concerning a mugging crime, but Tasya also spread false information on social media, which caused public unrest.

“Ironically, after filing the police report, Tasya also spread the false information to someone who then reported it to the media, causing the news to go viral and create unrest in the community,” he stated.

As a result of her actions, she has been charged under Article 220 regarding false reporting. The case is currently under further investigation by the police.
