A video showing students kissing same-sex individuals at Jakarta State Polytechnic (PNJ) campus went viral on social media. The father of a PNJ student identified by initials ARM apologized and even prostrated before the campus authorities for his child’s actions.

In the video circulating on social media, the two individuals involved in the same-sex kiss were seen surrounded by PNJ students on Tuesday evening (June 2, 2026) at the PNJ campus in Depok. The father of one of the individuals was also present at the location.

The father could only bow his head and repeatedly hold his head while ARM gave an explanation in front of the students and PNJ campus officials. The father then stood up and apologized to all students and PNJ representatives.

“I apologize to this great institution, I apologize to everyone. I am ashamed,” said ARM’s father while prostrating.

PNJ Public Relations Head Andhika Rizkyansyah confirmed the presence of ARM’s father last night. He also confirmed that the father had prostrated and apologized.

“As shown in the video on social media, that seems to be the case. (The one who prostrated was) the student’s parent, not an external party,” said Andhika when asked for confirmation on Wednesday (June 3, 2026).

In the viral social media video, two men were seen kissing outside a room, allegedly a hallway near the library. The video appeared to be recorded by someone from inside the room.

In another clip, the two men were approached by other students who asked for their identities.

PNJ Public Relations staff member Soraya stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday (June 2) at the PNJ campus in Depok. He mentioned that one of the men in the video was a PNJ student, while the other was not.

“It happened yesterday on June 2. It is true that it occurred on campus and was discovered by several students,” said Soraya to reporters in Depok on Wednesday (June 3).

He said the campus took steps to prevent unwanted incidents. The student identified as ARM and his male friend, AW, were secured from the anger of those on campus.

He said AW allegedly came to visit ARM on campus. The two are believed to have known each other previously. However, PNJ will conduct further investigation.

“As for that, because indeed he was visiting and the external party also came to meet our student. As for whether they knew each other, officially we are still presuming. So, they did know each other for the meeting, but for a more in-depth chronology, we may still be guarding this, guarding the privacy of those involved,” he said.
