CIKARANG – Police from the Women and Children Services Unit (PPA) along with the Criminal Investigation Unit of Bekasi Metro Police arrested a man with the initials RS on Wednesday (9/7/2025) for allegedly sexually abusing his own stepdaughter since the victim was in elementary school.
The suspect was apprehended in Tasikmalaya, West Java, after being reported by the victim’s family.
“The victim first confided in her older sibling, and then the family reported it to us,” said the Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Kombespol Mustofa.
The case occurred in Ciantra Village, South Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency.
Investigations revealed that the abuse had been ongoing since 2023 until July 2025, spanning two years. The crimes were often committed when the house was empty.
Police seized several pieces of evidence, including the victim’s clothing. The suspect is currently detained at Bekasi Metro Police Station and charged under Article 76D in conjunction with Article 81 of Law No. 35 of 2014 on Child Protection.
“The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison and a fine of up to five billion rupiah,” stated Mustofa.
This case serves as another important reminder for the public to remain vigilant against potential sexual violence within families, especially when children are the victims.
