BEKASI CITY – Hundreds of young people in Bekasi City enthusiastically participated in an anti-drug socialization event held by the West Java Provincial Government at the Bella Vista meeting hall, Jatimakmur, Pondokgede District.
Carrying the theme “Building the Panca Waluya Young Generation for a Drug-Free West Java,” the West Java Provincial Government hopes young people can avoid drug abuse.
Present at the event were a member of the West Java Provincial Legislative Council, a member of the Bekasi City Legislative Council, and the Head of the West Java National Unity and Political Agency.
On that occasion, a member of the West Java Provincial Legislative Council invited all young people in Bekasi City to stay away from the dangers of drugs.
According to him, the areas of Bekasi City and Depok are parts of West Java that are quite vulnerable to drug trafficking and abuse. Therefore, he specifically requested the West Java National Unity and Political Agency to frequently conduct socialization about the dangers of drugs in Bekasi City and Depok.
“Geographically (Bekasi City and Depok) have many drug dealers and abusers. Currently, drug trafficking has begun to target school children, especially elementary and junior high school students,” he said in his speech.
“Let’s imagine if a person is exposed to drugs, their way of thinking and their heart will be affected. So, the effects and consequences for drug users will more likely lead to criminal acts,” he added.
The politician hoped that every young person would be more concerned and socialize about the dangers of drugs in their residential environment. This step is taken to help the police in eradicating drugs.
“The number of police and the community is not proportional. So, tackling and preventing drug abuse is not only the duty of the police, but it is our collective duty. If one young person is exposed to drugs, then their future is already lost,” he said.
Similarly, a member of the Bekasi City Legislative Council stated that drug trafficking is now starting to target school children, especially in the Pondokgede District area.
“The Pondokgede area is currently rampant with synthetic drugs and the hard drug tramadol. Not long ago, I along with the deputy police chief conducted an eradication of the hard drug tramadol in the Pondokgede area,” he explained.
