KOTA BEKASI – A large billboard on Jalan Raya Caman, Kota Bekasi, has come under scrutiny for allegedly violating regulations by standing over a drainage channel and sidewalk.
There are strong suspicions that the installation of the billboard was not accompanied by an official permit from the Kota Bekasi Government, such as a Building Construction Approval (PBG).
The Kota Bekasi Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) has highlighted this issue and is urging the Kota Bekasi Government to take action against the unlicensed billboard, which also has the potential to harm Local Revenue (PAD).
The Kota Bekasi Spatial Planning Agency itself will investigate the permit for the billboard standing on the road’s sidewalk.
When contacted for confirmation, the Secretary of the Spatial Planning Agency stated they would check the permit for the large billboard on Jalan Raya Caman.
“We will check the permit.
We will provide a response after we have complete data,” the Secretary said via a WhatsApp message.
Previously, the Chairman of Commission II of the Kota Bekasi DPRD stated that the Spatial Planning Agency and the Water Resources Management Agency need to address the large billboard on Jalan Raya Caman if its purpose does not comply with regulations set by the Kota Bekasi Government.
“This needs to be addressed by the City Government. It should be regulated if the (billboard’s) position is in an inappropriate place, such as over a drainage channel or sidewalk. Regulations indeed do not permit other structures on top of these because it can make the function of the sidewalk or drainage less optimal,” the Chairman said when met at the Kota Bekasi DPRD Building.
“We in Commission II will address this. This falls under the domain of Commission II regarding the building—whether it has a permit so that this large billboard can stand. If the permit is flawed according to regulations, it needs to be investigated, and Commission II will question the relevant agencies about it,” the politician added.
The Kota Bekasi Government is urged to be firm if a billboard structure is standing on a sidewalk without a Building Construction Approval (PBG) permit from the relevant agency.
“We will review and summon the relevant Agency. If there are things that seem irregular, we will push for it to be regulated according to the legal and administrative procedures in effect at the City Government. This means it should be regulated because billboard structures must follow city planning,” they concluded.
