BEKASI CITY – The Secretary of the Bekasi City Public Works and Water Resources Office (DBMSDA) explained that they will conduct a large-scale crackdown on billboards that do not have permits or have unpaid fees.

“For billboards, this week we are preparing for a massive enforcement operation. We have already coordinated with the Regional Revenue Agency (BAPENDA), the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office (DPMPTSP), and the sub-district offices to finalize preparations for next week,” he said.

Additionally, according to data from the Bekasi City Spatial Planning Office (Distaru), there are currently 1,788 billboards, but only 700 are registered and have Building Approval Permits (PBG).

“Following the instructions from the Bekasi Mayor, we at DBMSDA will take action against billboards without permits. There have been suspicions that some billboards are already displayed while their permits are still being processed. This crackdown aims to increase Local Revenue (PAD),” he stated.

“For those who have not paid taxes on small-scale billboards, we will remove them immediately. For larger ones, we will proceed step by step, starting with warning stickers. For large-scale billboards, we will use heavy equipment if necessary,” he added.

However, he clarified that they are currently synchronizing data on the number of billboards that have not paid taxes but are already displayed. The data from the Spatial Planning Office is not significantly different from theirs.

“We at DBMSDA are waiting for the official release from the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office regarding the exact numbers, but it should not differ much from the Spatial Planning Office’s data,” he concluded.

Despite this, he expressed confidence that the crackdown on unpaid billboard taxes will not reduce investment in Bekasi City.

“Our duty is to enforce regulations and prevent dishonest investors. Those who evade taxes harm Bekasi City’s interests,” he emphasized.
