Bandung –
Persib Bandung appears ready to show a different face as they navigate the 2026/2027 season. After achieving success last season, Maung Bandung is at risk of losing many of its players in this transfer window.
The Commissioner of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat (PBB), Umuh Muchtar, openly admitted that the team’s player overhaul this season is quite significant. He noted that this situation is not much different from what happened the previous season.
Just a few weeks ago, there was confidence that most of the championship squad would be retained. However, the current situation has turned out differently.
“Not yet, the players have dispersed for now, taking a break. Who will leave and who will stay is still unknown,” Umuh said when met in Bandung on Monday, June 8, 2026.
Although he was not willing to name those who would depart, Umuh acknowledged that the number of players leaving is quite large.
“Many are leaving, just like last year,” he said.
This statement was quite surprising. Previously, Persib was expected to retain most of the players who had been the backbone of the team’s success in recent seasons.
When asked about hints regarding players who would leave Persib, Umuh chose to keep that information tightly sealed.
“You’ll find out later who’s leaving and who’s coming. Just wait,” he said.
Interestingly, Umuh also corrected his own earlier statement about the squad composition for next season. Previously, he mentioned that about 80 percent of players would stay, but now the reality is very different.
“Yes, but now it’s a different story. Eighty percent turned out to be fifty-fifty,” he revealed.
According to Umuh, many Persib players are now being targeted by other clubs after performing impressively with Maung Bandung. Interest has come from various clubs, including those outside Indonesia.
“Whoever it is, but mostly playing abroad. Hopefully, they won’t play in Indonesia,” he said.
Umuh also revealed that several players indeed have opportunities to continue their careers abroad, although some still have a chance to stay in Indonesian competitions.
“There are some, but I don’t know where. But there are some in Indonesia,” he said.
Changes are also likely in the local player sector. Umuh estimates that only about half of the local players will remain with Persib.
“Local players, about 50 percent will stay, more or less,” he said.
