The Department of Communication, Information and Statistics (Diskominfotik) urges the public not to easily believe hoax information.
As is known, some time ago the public was shocked by a video of the phenomenon of a ghost appearing in the Ngamprah district.
Head of Diskominfotik KBB, Rony Rudiyana, said that in the midst of the fast flow of information through social media, the public is required to be more careful in absorbing information.
“Currently, information is indeed very easy to spread. Regardless of whether the information is true or not, it will still reach the public,” he said on Wednesday (27/5/2026).
He added that the public can first cross-check the truth of the information they receive. Make sure whether the information is a hoax or not.
“What is certain is to check the information obtained first. Don’t let the hoax that spreads cause unrest and fear in the community,” he said.
Furthermore, he said, the existence of artificial intelligence (AI) technology makes it easy for people to quickly create digital manipulations with almost perfect results.
“Of course, in responding to the increasingly advanced times, we must use it wisely. Don’t let it cause harm to all parties,” he said.
He urged the public to use the information center to obtain valid information.
“If there is information whose truth is doubted, it can be reported through the information center,” he concluded.
