The Bandung City Government is accelerating the project through the construction of ducting and manholes on several main city roads. Work is now beginning to be visible in the field, as the city government targets completing underground cable connections before enforcement against messy cables begins in early June 2026.

Ducting work activities are taking place at several road points with the installation of project barriers and excavation of underground cable routes. Although it has briefly slowed vehicle traffic, the project continues amid the high mobility of Bandung City residents.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan emphasized that the acceleration of ducting is part of the government’s major effort to organize the city’s appearance to be neater, safer, and more modern.

According to him, the aerial cables that have been hanging on various street corners are long overdue to be moved to underground routes.

Farhan stated that most manholes are now ready for use in the process of connecting operator networks. The city government has begun setting deadlines for all operators to immediately connect their cables to the available ducting system.

“The manholes are ready for connecting. If I’m not mistaken, the first deadline is May 30, then on June 2, enforcement will begin,” said Farhan on Friday (22/5/2026).

Besides improving the city’s aesthetics, the ducting project is also considered important for enhancing urban infrastructure safety. The accumulated aerial cables have been deemed hazardous to road users, especially during bad weather or when poles and networks are damaged.

Farhan ensured that the acceleration process continues even though the work is being done in stages. The latest meeting results even show that 17 operators have agreed on the connection pricing for the ducting network with the management party.

Farhan emphasized that the city government will not interfere in business matters between operators and regional-owned enterprises. However, he hopes that price negotiations proceed fairly so that all operators can immediately enter the ducting system and the issue in Bandung City can be resolved soon.
