It is known that this incident occurred on April 14. The pilot was in the passenger cabin of a flight from Delhi to San Francisco. He was responsible for flying the same aircraft back to Delhi. In aviation terminology, this process is called ‘positioning’. That is, the pilot was on duty. According to news sources, after the aircraft arrived in San Francisco, US officials found marijuana in the pilot’s bag during a search. Immediate action was taken against him. He was sent back to India on the next available flight.

The matter has been reported to DGCA by Air India. Providing detailed information about the entire incident, it was stated that the pilot returned to Delhi on Thursday. Furthermore, issuing a stern warning of strict action against the accused pilot, the airline stated, ‘One of our crew members, who was traveling from Delhi to San Francisco on April 14 and was scheduled to operate the subsequent flight. However, he was deemed ‘unfit’ to operate that flight and has been repatriated to India.’
Following this, a warning was issued, stating, ‘Air India believes in a zero-tolerance policy towards any violation of the law. We do not tolerate safety violations, misconduct, and unprofessional behavior at all. Appropriate and strict disciplinary action will be taken in this matter as per company regulations. Ensuring safety is always Air India’s highest priority.’
