Those who are renunciant, ascetic, and virtuous are bowed down to by deities. Religion resides in every fiber of their being. Only those who drink the nectar of religion, immerse their minds in religion, and maintain interest in religion attain salvation. The Paryushan festival has brought awareness toward religion. These sentiments were expressed during the religious assembly organized under the auspices of Jain Shravak Sangh Kora at Anand Jain Bhavan Kora, Sikh Cantonment.

According to a press release issued today, the revered speaker said that when Gautam Swami asked Lord Mahavir what the fifth era would be like, Lord Mahavir replied that in the fifth era, there would be more sorrow and less happiness. Today, the cause of sorrow and happiness is the individual themselves. Those who understand religion, renunciation, and penance in life remain happy. If a person gives charity with both hands, how great their fame and glory becomes.

Message of charity, penance, and religion during Paryushan festival

Ask those who give charity what charity is like. The miser doesn’t know because they never gave any charity. Moman Seth had 56 crores but never spent it. Giving charity is the simplest thing. During the eight days of Paryushan, not a single day should pass without giving charity. Don’t cry after giving charity, and don’t sleep without giving charity. The speaker said that those who wish to give charity should never be stopped. Humans have obtained this birth, have a healthy body, and have gotten the opportunity to hear the Jain teachings – they should awaken upon hearing them.

While conducting the stage, it was mentioned that the chanting of the Navkar Mahamantra continues daily after the sermons. Today, the Antagad Sutra was recited. Over 100 people observed Ekasana, including beneficiaries from various families. The Kalpasutra was also recited. A religious competition was held for women, in which several women participated.
