Emotional Event at Pandesara Police Station, Innocent Baby Girl Named ‘Kashish’
Surat. A sensitive and humane side of the police, who are responsible for maintaining law and order, was seen at the Pandesara police station in Surat.
After caring for an abandoned newborn girl found in an unclaimed state, police personnel celebrated her ‘Chhathi’, performed a naming ceremony, and gave her familial affection. This incident has become a unique example of humanity and sensitivity in the history of the Gujarat Police.
According to information, on May 21, 2026, a newborn girl was found abandoned under a four-wheeler in the industrial area on Bamroli Road. A rickshaw driver passing by in the extreme heat saw the baby and immediately informed the police control room.
Upon receiving the information, the PCR van from Pandesara police reached the spot, and with the help of a 108 ambulance, the baby was rushed to New Civil Hospital for immediate treatment.
The condition of the hospitalized baby was critical. During this time, female police personnel at Pandesara police station cared for her with maternal affection. They served her day and night for 13 consecutive days. With the doctors’ treatment and the police personnel’s care, the baby fully recovered.
After the baby recovered, under the guidance of ACP J.R. Desai of H Division and PI K.D. Jadeja of Pandesara police station, the police staff decided to celebrate her ‘Chhathi’.
On the occasion of the Chhathi ceremony, the police station was decorated with flowers and ornaments. Following Vedic traditions, prayers were offered and the naming ceremony of the newborn was completed. On this occasion, the baby was presented with clothes, blankets, toys, a baby care kit, health and hygiene supplies, and many other useful gifts.
During the ceremony, the newborn girl was named ‘Kashish’. ‘Kashish’ means attraction and a sense of belonging that touches anyone’s heart. Police officers said that this name will symbolize love, security, and new opportunities in the baby’s life.
In this event, female Head Constable Bhagyashree Vaghela, Tejalba Parmar, Keshaviben Chavda, along with members of the ‘She Team’ and other police personnel played an active role. Held during the holy days of the extra month, this program became not just a ritual but a message of humanity, compassion, and social responsibility.
This initiative by Pandesara police proved that the khaki uniform not only protects the law but can also become the greatest support of maternal love and protection when needed. Now, ‘Kashish’ has found a family that stands with her at all times for her safety and future.
