Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman V. Narayanan stated on Tuesday that over 400 scientists worked round the clock during ‘Operation Sindoor’ to provide support through Earth observation and communication satellites.
Addressing the 52nd National Management Convention of the All India Management Association (AIMA), Narayanan said that ISRO provided satellite data for national security requirements.
He said, “During Operation Sindoor, all satellites were active 24/7 and meeting all requirements.”
Narayanan stated, “Over 400 scientists were working day and night at full capacity, and during the mission, all Earth observation and communication satellites were fully operational.”
The ISRO chief highlighted that during ‘Operation Sindoor’, special attention was given to the role of the space sector in armed conflicts. During this period, extensive testing was conducted on capabilities such as drones and indigenous air defense systems like ‘Akash Teer’.
The ISRO chief reported that under the human space mission ‘Gaganyaan’ project, over 7,700 ground tests have been completed so far, and an additional 2,300 tests will be conducted before the upcoming human space flight.
Under the ‘Gaganyaan’ mission, ISRO will conduct three uncrewed missions, with the first mission expected this December. This will be followed by two more uncrewed missions.
Approval has also been received for conducting two crewed missions under the ‘Gaganyaan’ project.
Narayanan said that the Prime Minister has assigned ISRO the goal of establishing India’s own space station by 2035 and landing an Indian astronaut on the Moon by 2040.
