Since the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday began, the banks of the Yangtze River in Dadukou District have been bustling with activity as the 17th China (Chongqing) Hot Pot Culture Festival kicked off with spicy flavors. Nearly 20 hot pot brands set up a 1.2-kilometer “Ten-Thousand-Person Hot Pot Banquet” along the river, receiving over 30,000 visitors daily on average.
This feast combining cuisine, technology, and culture serves as both a “golden招牌” of Chongqing’s food culture and the opening event for the “Enjoy the Double Festival · Delightful Chongqing Consumption” 2025 National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival consumption activities.
Before the festival, municipal commerce authorities jointly launched this event with cultural tourism, sports departments and other relevant municipal agencies across 38 districts and counties. They organized over 350 activities around multiple thematic sections including “Culinary Feast · Chongqing Flavors,” “Trendy Mountain City · Fashion Renewal,” and “Green Consumption · Smart Living,” distributing more than 300 million yuan in consumption benefits to comprehensively meet the holiday needs of residents and tourists, activating the holiday economy through a comprehensive, integrated consumption feast.
Culinary Feast, Chongqing Flavors Throughout the City
The vibrant scene at the Chongqing Hot Pot Culture Festival has become a vivid example of the booming food consumption in Chongqing during this holiday period.
At the “Ten-Thousand-Person Hot Pot Banquet” in Dadukou, a resident was livestreaming on her phone: “Eating hot pot while enjoying the river view – this is the true Chongqing experience.” According to statistics, from October 1st to 3rd, the main venue of the hot pot festival attracted over 150,000 participants, driving a 40% year-on-year increase in surrounding餐饮 consumption. One hot pot restaurant created a “Interstellar Journey” themed experience, combining holographic projections to create a “hot pot metaverse,” with daily customer traffic exceeding 5,000 people.
The culinary feast extended beyond hot pot. At Nanbin Road in Nan’an District, the 15th Chongqing International Music Beer Festival gathered global specialty beers and local delicacies including “Chongqing’s 360 Bowls,” integrating the landscapes along both rivers with local cultural characteristics. Through the “music + festival + consumption” model, it created an integrated consumption experience space combining dining, shopping, tourism, and entertainment, allowing visitors to experience the unique charm of “Majestic Landscapes · New Rhythms of Chongqing.”
A tourist from Sichuan commented: “I came specifically to experience the beer festival atmosphere – good beer, great food plus the night views of the two rivers, it’s a unique experience.” To enhance the consumption experience, Nan’an District also issued themed consumption vouchers during the beer festival, driving online pre-sales to boost offline consumption, creating a positive cycle of “online promotion – offline experience – business benefits.”
Fengjie County was equally lively during the holiday, hosting the 2025 Qingdao Beer Festival. “The crowd is particularly enthusiastic – we sold more than half of our navel orange fruit wine stock in just half a day, with sales two to three times higher than usual,” said a busy but happy merchant. Local commerce officials explained that the beer festival integrated business and cultural tourism resources, creating a model of “sightseeing during the day, celebration at night,” effectively releasing the consumption potential of the “Double Festival.”
Trendy Mountain City, Increasing International Flavor
On October 4th, the 2025 Liberation Monument International Consumption Festival was grandly held in the Yuzhong District’s Jiefangbei-Chaotianmen business district. The event focused on “launch economy” and “scenario innovation,” featuring 23 international brand launches and exhibitions, hundreds of themed promotions, and immersive consumption scenarios, allowing residents and tourists to fully enjoy the holiday fashion celebration.
A fashion enthusiast specially came from Chengdu, continuously filming with her phone: “Many products are making their debut in China – I can feast my eyes without going abroad.” Staff at an international brand store also noted that customer traffic significantly increased during the consumption festival, with nearly 50% more customers in the evenings compared to usual.
Meanwhile, the 2025 Chongqing-Singapore Experience Week at Jiangbei District’s Guanyinqiao Pedestrian Street brought strong “Southeast Asian flavors.” Activities including Singaporean food markets, cultural creative exhibitions, and family workshops allowed residents to experience foreign culture without leaving Chongqing. Long queues formed in front of a bak kut teh shop. A resident holding a steaming bowl said: “I never expected to taste authentic Singaporean flavors right here in Chongqing.”
