Depok –
A woman named Tasya Khairani filed a false police report regarding a robbery case in Beji, Depok. Upon investigation, it turned out that Tasya had sold the motorcycle to her neighbor to pay off an online loan debt.
“The motorcycle was not stolen, but was sold to her neighbor for Rp 13 million. The money from the sale was used to pay off the online loan debt,” said the Head of Public Relations for the Depok Metro Police.
The spokesperson said Tasya’s motive for filing the report was to avoid her parents finding out that she had sold the motorcycle.
“(The motive) was to pay off the online loan debt, but the money was insufficient. (Filing the report) was so her parents wouldn’t find out she sold the motorcycle,” the spokesperson stated.
In addition to filing the false robbery report, Tasya also spread the false information on social media. This caused public unrest.
“Ironically, after filing the police report, Tasya also spread the false information to someone who then reported it to the media, causing the news to go viral and create unrest in the community,” the spokesperson added.
As a result of her actions, Tasya has been charged under Article 220 regarding false reporting. The case is currently under investigation by the police.
