Draft Prepared in Just 8 Months, New History Created After 100 Years, 300,000 Square Meter Road Network to be Built Near Station

Surat. Under the country’s ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project, the preliminary order for Town Planning (TP) Scheme No. 61 has been issued for the development of the area around the bullet train station being built in Surat.

This achievement has been accomplished in a record period of just 8 months and is considered a historic step for the comprehensive development of the state.

The TP Scheme 61 (Kosamada-Chedcha-Oviyana) is one of a total of 5 plans created for the 909-hectare area around the bullet train station. This scheme is a roadmap for the inclusive and future-oriented development of the region, which will strengthen the city’s economic and residential areas as well as multimodal connectivity.

Under this scheme, a total of 135 final plots have been included in an area of approximately 164 hectares. After considering the suggestions and objections of the owners of these plots, this order has been issued by completing all legal procedures.

The preliminary order for this TP scheme was issued on September 1, 2025, exactly 100 years after the country’s first TP scheme (Jamalpur) was implemented in Ahmedabad on September 1, 1925. This is a new chapter in the golden history of Gujarat, as such an order for such a large area has never been issued in such a short period before.

A road network covering an area of over 300,000 square meters is also being built to facilitate transportation in the bullet train station area. This scheme will not only strengthen Surat’s transportation infrastructure but will also help develop it as a well-planned and modern city.

This achievement demonstrates how development goals can be achieved rapidly through the proper use of technology, coordination among government departments, and public participation.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project is an under-construction bullet train line in India, which will be the country’s first high-speed rail corridor.
