Support for farmers ahead of the sowing campaign was discussed at a meeting in the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Processing Industry.
A state of emergency due to drought was declared in nine municipalities of Kuban—Kanevsky, Yeysky, Pavlovsky, Starominsky, Shcherbinovsky, Krylovsky, and Kushchevsky districts, as well as in Leningradsky and Primorsko-Akhtarsky districts.
“We visited all municipalities in the emergency zone and met with farmers to objectively assess the scale of losses and necessary assistance. It is now crucial that none of the affected farms cease operations, preserve jobs, and are able to complete the harvest campaign while ensuring quality sowing for next year’s yield,” said the head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture.
He also stated that the ministry worked with insurance companies to expedite compensation payments to agricultural producers who insured their crops. Some farmers have already received funds.
Additionally, appeals were prepared to Rosagroleasing requesting extended repayment deadlines for loans to farmers in emergency zones, as well as to the Russian government regarding the extension of preferential loans.
As part of additional support, the ministry developed a mechanism for deferring tax payments.
“Options for obtaining production loans—covering fuel, seeds, and fertilizers—have been finalized. Farmers in emergency zones can receive loans of up to 5 million rubles at a 0.1% interest rate for up to 3 years. So far, six farms have applied for this support,” explained a deputy minister.
Farmers report concerns about row crops due to prolonged drought. In response, the Ministry of Agriculture instructed a reassessment of each farm to evaluate crop conditions.
Also in Kuban, 50 hectares of nut orchards are planned to be planted in 2025.
