The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare action plans for their respective departments within 15 days. He also instructed them not to succumb to pressure and to work with honesty, discretion, and a positive attitude. A day after assuming office, Chief Minister Shivakumar held a meeting with the state’s top bureaucrats and police officers.
Shivakumar told reporters after the meeting, “A separate secretariat will be established to address public grievances, and a minister will be appointed to hear complaints, demands, or issues of people coming to Bengaluru from across the state, including those staging protests or agitations. There is a need for such a separate secretariat.”
Shivakumar said, “Every day, two or three groups come here to protest. Someone needs to meet them and understand their problems. It is important to determine whether their demands are legitimate or illegitimate. Officials should meet them, listen to the facts, and understand their issues. Therefore, a decision has been made to establish a separate secretariat.”
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, Minister Ramalinga Reddy, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, Director General of Police M.A. Saleem, and other senior officials. Shivakumar said the new government has begun its work from today, and officials were informed about the government’s priorities. The Chief Minister stated that his government will not tolerate any influence based on caste or religion and urged officials not to give in to pressure.
