Police revealed the motive of Chaidir Milana (36) pouring hot water on a parking attendant named Mislan (39) while he was sleeping. It turned out Chaidir did this because he was hurt that Mislan accused him of stealing.

“He (the perpetrator) was hurt because the victim accused him of stealing his phone,” said the Criminal Investigation Unit Head of Medan Labuhan Police, Hamzar Nodi, Wednesday (3/6/2026).

Nevertheless, Hamzar did not clarify the truth of the accusation. That accusation is what made the perpetrator resent the victim.

“Yes (hurt because accused of stealing),” he said.

The Police Chief of Belawan Port, AKBP Rosef Efendi, stated that the hot water pouring incident occurred on Monday (1/6) at 05:00 AM local time.

“Around 05:00 AM, the victim, who was sleeping, was suddenly splashed with hot water,” said AKBP Rosef Efendi, Wednesday (3/6).

After carrying out his act, the perpetrator immediately ran out of the house. The victim briefly chased the perpetrator while screaming from the heat.

“The perpetrator immediately ran out of the house, and then the victim chased the perpetrator while screaming from the heat,” he said.

Residents then poured water and applied cooking oil to the victim to relieve the heat. The victim was then taken to the hospital by a witness named Misli.

AKBP Rosef explained that after taking the victim to the hospital, Misli then searched for the perpetrator. The perpetrator was found walking on the roadside and was immediately arrested by Misli and his colleague.

The perpetrator was then taken to the intersection of Pasar 2 Tengah, but along the way, the perpetrator tried to slash Misli and failed. After arriving at the destination, the perpetrator was said to have resisted, leading to him being subdued by residents.

“Misli intended to take the perpetrator to Indra Durian at the intersection of Pasar 2 Tengah, but on the way, the perpetrator pulled out a knife and tried to attack Misli. Fortunately, Misli was able to grab the perpetrator’s knife, and then the perpetrator was taken to Indra Durian. Upon arrival at Indra Durian, the perpetrator resisted until he was subdued by residents,” he said.

Police then arrived at the scene and secured the perpetrator, who was weak after being subdued by the crowd. After being examined by a doctor at Bhayangkara Medan Hospital, the perpetrator was then detained at the Medan Labuhan Police Station.

“After the doctor examined him, the perpetrator’s condition was not concerning, and he could be brought to the Medan Labuhan Police Station,” he said.
