Addis Ababa, May 23, 2026 — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed officially inaugurated the modern “Grandor” ceramics factory today, a step described as significant progress in the country’s industrial development path.

In a social media post following the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister confirmed that the factory’s opening marks a notable milestone in the national industrialization journey and a practical embodiment of the progress of the “Made in Ethiopia” initiative.

Abiy Ahmed said: “The inauguration of the Grandor ceramics factory this morning is practical evidence that the country’s industrialization drive will continue to gradually expand across various parts of Ethiopia, contributing to attracting international investments.”

The Prime Minister pointed out the strategic importance of the factory, explaining that it will provide ceramic products meeting international standards in terms of quality and competitiveness, with more than 80 percent of raw materials sourced locally.

He added: “In addition to enhancing Ethiopia’s ability to benefit from its natural resources and national potential, this achievement will significantly contribute to reducing dependence on imported goods.”
