The head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, affirmed that the government prioritizes support for preventive and therapeutic programs, and enhancing the quality of health services provided to citizens, to ensure a more effective response to patients’ needs.

This came during his opening on Thursday of the Seventh Libyan National Conference on Diabetes, organized by the National Authority for Diabetes, with wide participation from doctors and specialists from various Libyan cities, along with a group of medical staff working in the health sector.

During the opening, Dbeibeh stated that holding this conference reflects the growing national awareness of the importance of addressing chronic diseases, foremost among them diabetes. He confirmed that practical steps have been taken to begin supplying diabetes medications to meet the needs for a full year of all types, in addition to continuing efforts to support medical staff, develop health infrastructure, and enhance the medical supply system, to ensure the continuous availability of treatment and its access to all citizens efficiently and fairly.

On the sidelines of the conference, the head of government toured a medical exhibition held within the events, during which he reviewed the latest devices and technologies used in diagnosing and monitoring diabetes, along with introductory presentations on therapeutic and preventive programs, and scientific initiatives aimed at improving the quality of health services provided to patients in Libya.

The conference’s activities include a series of scientific workshops and specialized discussion sessions, with participation from experts and doctors from across Libya, focusing on the latest developments in diagnosing and treating diabetes, exchanging expertise among medical institutions, in addition to discussing challenges facing the health sector and ways to develop it.

The organization of this conference comes within the framework of scientific and medical efforts aimed at enhancing prevention of diabetes and its complications, and producing practical recommendations that support national health policies and contribute to raising the level of healthcare in Libya.
