Wife with white hair after the “knife rain” still asks for reduced murder sentence for her husband.
(Dân trí) – Escaping the “jaws of death” after her husband’s rain of knives, Mrs. B.’s hair turned white. In court, this woman requested a reduced sentence for her husband.
On April 23, the People’s Court of Nghệ An province tried defendant Lê Thanh Trường (born 1948, residing in Thành Vinh ward, Nghệ An) for the crimes of Murder and Illegal Use of Military Weapons. The victim in the case was Mrs. N.T.B. (born 1955), the defendant’s wife.
According to the indictment from the People’s Procuracy of Nghệ An province, around 2:00 PM on July 14, 2025, because he could not sell land, Lê Thanh Trường repeatedly rammed his motorcycle into the gate. Mrs. B. spoke up to stop her husband, fearing damage to the vehicle, but was threatened by Trường.
Believing Mrs. B. had a defiant attitude, Trường pushed his wife to the ground in the yard, repeatedly stomping on her body. The man then ran to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and struck multiple blows to his wife’s head, face, and abdomen. Mrs. B. screamed for help, but neighbors could not approach because the gate was locked.
Trường threw the knife onto the street and retrieved two other knives to continue attacking his wife. When police arrived and demanded Trường open the door, the man refused. Law enforcement broke down the door and was met with resistance from Trường, who used a crowbar and threatened to kill Mrs. B. Police successfully subdued Trường and sent the victim to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Forensic examination results from the Criminal Technical Department of the Nghệ An Provincial Police showed that the knife used by defendant Trường in the crime was classified as a “high lethality knife” under Circular No. 75/2024/TT-BCA of the Ministry of Public Security, thus defendant Trường was charged with Illegal Use of Military Weapons.
The husband’s “rain of knives” left Mrs. B. with numerous wounds across her body, especially on her arms and legs. Forensic examination results indicated the victim suffered 61% bodily injury.
Mrs. B. arrived at court with white hair and difficulty walking due to the consequences of dozens of knife strikes from her husband. Nevertheless, this woman, “out of marital affection,” requested the trial panel to consider and reduce the sentence for defendant Trường.
