Good news for the residents of Batu Bara Regency. The Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR) of North Sumatra Province will soon repair a 5-kilometer access road connecting Batu Bara Regency and Serdang Bedagai (Sergai) Regency.

The road repairs will utilize an emergency disaster budget sourced from the state budget. This step is taken to address the road damage that has been disrupting community activities, especially during the rainy season.

An official stated that the repairs will focus on the road section starting from around the Pagurawan gas station to Nanassiam Village, Medang Deras District, Batu Bara Regency.

“The road will be repaired from around the Pagurawan gas station to Nanassiam Village, spanning approximately 5 kilometers,” the official said.

While the detailed implementation schedule is not yet known for certain, the official confirmed the project will be carried out in 2026. It is estimated that the work process will begin mid-year, around May.

“The exact schedule is not yet known, but the work is estimated to be done this year, possibly starting in May,” the official explained.

Meanwhile, local residents welcomed the road repair plan. One resident expressed great hope that the repairs would be realized soon, as the current road condition is quite concerning.

According to the resident, damage to the road surface often causes water pooling when it rains, hindering community mobility and economic activities.

“We are very happy to hear this road will be repaired. The condition has been damaged and often flooded during rain. We hope it is fixed soon so community activities run smoothly,” the resident said.

With these repairs, it is hoped that connectivity between the Batu Bara and Sergai regions will improve and be able to boost economic growth for the community in the area.
