The case was uncovered on Saturday at the Poris Paradise Exclusive Housing Complex area, Poris Gaga Village, Batuceper District, Tangerang City.
It began with a report from a resident who saw a package fall from a motorcycle. However, when the motorcyclist was called about the fallen item, he fled instead.
Subsequently, a community member contacted the Batuceper Police Precinct, and officers immediately conducted a check at the location.
The Batuceper Precinct Chief explained that after receiving the report from the community, his team was immediately deployed to secure the evidence.
“From the initial examination, we found one large plastic bag containing the hard drug Tramadol, with a total quantity reaching 49,500 pills. The items are strongly suspected to be intended for distribution without official permission,” he stated.
The evidence has now been secured at the Batuceper Police Precinct for investigation purposes.
Meanwhile, the suspect believed to be the owner of the drugs is still under investigation and development by the Criminal Investigation Unit.
The Metro Tangerang City Police Chief emphasized that the police are committed to eradicating the illegal circulation of hard drugs, which often triggers public order disturbances.
“The circulation of hard drugs without permission is very dangerous, especially for the younger generation. The Metro Tangerang City Police will take firm action against anyone involved in this illegal practice,” he stressed.
He also appreciated the active role of the community in assisting police duties. “This success is inseparable from the concern of residents who reported immediately. We invite the public to continue synergizing with the police to keep the environment safe and healthy,” he added.
For his actions, the perpetrator will later be charged under Article 435 and/or Article 436 Paragraph (2) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, with criminal threats according to applicable legal provisions.
