Bir Ghars
“Bir Ghars” is a historic oasis and fortified village (ksar) located in southern Tunisia, near the town of Douz. Its history is rooted in its strategic role as a vital stop for trans-Saharan caravans, providing water and shelter for traders. Today, it stands as a well-preserved example of traditional Berber architecture and a testament to the region’s caravanning past.
Al-Safiya Museum and Garden
The Al-Safiya Museum and Garden is a cultural complex in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, established in the early 2000s by the Alireza family. It is housed in a restored historic coral-stone house, showcasing a private collection of traditional Saudi and Islamic artifacts, including manuscripts, textiles, and furniture. The adjacent garden provides a serene public green space that complements the museum’s focus on preserving and sharing regional heritage.
Al-Madinah
Al-Madinah, officially known as Medina, is a city in western Saudi Arabia revered as the second holiest city in Islam. It is historically significant as the site where the Prophet Muhammad migrated to in 622 CE (the Hijrah), establishing it as the first capital of the Islamic community and the location of his tomb within the Prophet’s Mosque (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi). The city remains a major pilgrimage destination and a central spiritual and historical heart of the Muslim world.
