The curfew regulations for students initiated by West Java Governor Deddy Mulyadi begin implementation in the city of Bandung, Monday (2/6/2025) tonight. Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan stated that patrols will be conducted at the urban village and district levels.

Later, students up to high school age will be prohibited from being outside their homes from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM WIB. This is said to aim at reducing various potential dangers outside the home. “The curfew will be implemented tonight, from 9 PM until 4 AM,” said Farhan in Cicendo, Monday (2/6/2025).

Farhan said the parties involved in the patrol will be local residents, including Linmas and Satpol PP assigned at the district level. “Those who will conduct the patrol are local residents, strengthened by Linmas, by Satpol PP at the sub-district level,” he explained.

Farhan explained that the patrol technics will be to go around and inspect places usually used for gathering, then check for students who are ‘hanging out’. He believes this can be done by observing faces suspected to still be of student age. “Going around to check. It’s apparent from the face, the face of a middle school kid. Later asked where their house is, what their name is, if they have an ID card or not,” he explained.

“If it turns out they know where their house is, they are returned to their respective homes,” he continued.

Farhan emphasized that there will be no action taken against students caught in the patrol. He also mentioned that patrols and guidance will only involve regional apparatus, without the involvement of schools. “There will be no enforcement, only guidance. Schools can’t possibly be involved, it would be pity,” he concluded.

Previously reported, this curfew regulation is contained in the Circular Letter of the West Java Governor numbered 51/PA.03/DISDIK dated May 23, 2025. The West Java Provincial Government enforces a night-time or curfew policy for students so they don’t ‘wander around’.

Specifically, this regulation stipulates that students are not allowed to conduct activities outside the home from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM WIB. They may conduct activities at night for certain circumstances.

Including if the student is participating in official school or educational institution activities, religious activities known by parents, is with parents/guardians, or in emergency and disaster conditions.
