Bandung

The student curfew regulations initiated by West Java Governor Deddy Mulyadi will take effect in Bandung starting tonight, Monday (6/2/2025). Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan stated that patrols will be conducted at the village and district levels.

Moving forward, schoolchildren up to high school age will be prohibited from being outside their homes between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM WIB. This measure is intended to reduce various potential dangers they might face outdoors. «The curfew will be enforced tonight, from 9 PM to 4 AM,» said Farhan on Monday (6/2/2025) in Cicendo.

According to Farhan, local residents, including Linmas and PP Satpola personnel assigned at the district level, will participate in the patrols. «Those conducting the patrols will be local residents, supported by Linmas and PP Satpola at the sub-district level,» he explained.

Farhan elaborated that the patrol method will involve inspecting areas commonly used as gathering spots and then checking on students who are «hanging out.» He mentioned that this can be done by observing individuals who appear to be of school age. «We will patrol and check. You can tell by their faces if they are middle or high school-aged. Then we’ll ask where they live, their names, and whether they have identification,» he said.

«If it turns out they know where they live, they will be escorted back to their residences,» he added.

Farhan emphasized that no punitive measures will be taken against students caught during patrols. He also noted that only regional authorities will be involved in the patrols and guidance, without involving schools. «There will be no enforcement, only guidance. Schools cannot be involved—that would be unfortunate,» he concluded.

Previously, it was reported that this curfew provision is outlined in West Java Governor’s Circular Letter No. 51/PA.03/DISDIK dated May 23, 2025. The West Java provincial government is implementing night-time regulations, or curfews, for students to prevent them from «loitering without purpose.»

Specifically, the rule states that students are not allowed to engage in activities outside their homes between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM WIB. Under certain circumstances, they may be permitted to be out at night.

These exceptions include participation in official school or educational institution events, religious activities with parental knowledge, being accompanied by parents/guardians, or during emergencies and natural disasters.
