Anh N.T.N.K. reported that when he went to the vehicle inspection station, he received a notification about two unpaid traffic fines. However, the violation images showed two different cars with license plates identical to his.

On November 19, social media circulated a post from a driver claiming he was wrongly fined due to two other cars using fake or altered license plates.

According to the post, the Ford car with license plate 30G-818.XX had its registration expire on November 16.

A few days earlier, the owner went to the inspection station and received a notification about two unpaid traffic fines.

He then went to the headquarters to view the violation images. However, he couldn’t believe his eyes when the fine notifications showed images of two different vehicles.

One was a Kia that committed a speeding violation at 8:42 AM on May 23 on National Highway 1 through Ha Nam ward, Ninh Binh province.

The other vehicle was a Hyundai that violated traffic signal compliance at 9:17 AM on November 26, 2024 at the Le Duan – Nguyen Phuc Lai intersection in Ninh Binh.

The vehicle owner believes he was wrongly fined because the two cars above were using fake license plates or had altered plates.

According to a representative from the Road and Railway Traffic Patrol Guidance Department, the police are responsible for proving violations.

“If citizens receive traffic fine notifications and discover signs that other cars are using fake plates or altered license plates, they can file complaints with the police for verification and clarification.

First, the police will remove the wrongful fines and simultaneously notify the functional forces to track down vehicles with fake or altered license plates for handling,” said the representative from the Road and Railway Traffic Patrol Guidance Department.

According to this official, those wrongly fined are not responsible for proving their innocence, but are encouraged to provide complete information and images to speed up the verification process.

On the night of November 14 through the early morning of November 15, Hanoi traffic police handled 74 violations related to license plates, including failure to display plates; unclear, obscured, or covered license plates…
