Depok is preparing to host a major international event. The Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII) will be the venue for the Annual International Conference on Islam, Science, and Society (AICIS+) 2025 on October 29-31.

With the theme “Islam, Ecotheology, and Technological Transformation: Multidisciplinary Innovations for a Just and Sustainable Future,” this conference will bring together thinkers, academics, researchers, and community leaders from various countries. They will share ideas and engage in dialogue about the role of Islam, science, and technology in addressing current global challenges.

The Media Head of UIII stated that hosting AICIS+ in Depok demonstrates the city’s important role as an educational center and international activities hub focused on advancing science and humanity.

“Through AICIS+ 2025, scholars from various countries will discuss how Islam and science can work together in responding to global challenges,” he said.

The event organization has received full support from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly the Directorate General of Islamic Education. Additionally, the committee has collaborated with the Depok City Government to ensure field readiness – from infrastructure and security to the comfort of guests and participants.

The Rector of UIII expressed gratitude for the cooperation and support provided by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Depok City Government.

“We appreciate the solid collaboration since the preparation stage. We ensure all campus facilities and surrounding environment are ready to welcome guests from around the world so they can experience Depok’s characteristic hospitality,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the University Secretary of UIII considered that AICIS+ 2025 holds strategic value not only for the university but also for Depok City.

“AICIS+ is not merely a scientific forum, but a space for cross-country and cross-sector collaboration. Its presence in Depok will strengthen the city’s position as a global dialogue center emphasizing harmony between Islam, science, and humanity,” he explained.

Through collaboration among various parties, AICIS+ 2025 is expected to not only become a prestigious academic event but also introduce Depok as a city friendly to international scientific activities – while reinforcing Depok’s image as an educational city that is open, inclusive, and globally competitive.
