Hyderabad: Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers J.P. Nadda assured that the central government will provide all possible assistance to address the shortage of fertilizers and urea in Telangana and provide relief to farmers. The Union Ministry issued a statement regarding this on Wednesday. Earlier, an official state delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Union Minister Nadda in Delhi on Tuesday and requested adequate supply of urea and fertilizers to the state.
The Chief Minister informed the Union Minister about the urea shortage and appealed for uninterrupted urea supply during July and August for the Kharif season. Responding to the Chief Minister’s request, Union Minister Nadda assured full support to meet the fertilizer demands of farmers. Nadda directed ministry officials to ensure sufficient urea supply to Telangana.

The Union Minister instructed state government officials to take necessary steps to ensure equitable distribution of urea across districts without diverting it for non-agricultural purposes. Expressing serious concern over the rising urea consumption in Telangana, Nadda noted that urea sales during the 2024-25 Rabi (Yasangi) season were 21% higher compared to the 2023-24 Rabi season.
