Depok – Mal Pesona Square, one of the largest shopping malls in Depok, has demonstrated its commitment to the local economy. The mall has transformed the cafeteria area on the B2 floor of the parking building into an aesthetic and hygienic incubation space for the city’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
A total of 19 MSME tenants proposed by the Depok Cooperative and Micro Enterprise Office were successfully curated by the cafeteria management, Dapur Roso. These tenants offer various homemade food menus at affordable prices.
The General Manager explained that this initiative serves a dual purpose: opening business opportunities for local MSMEs while providing efficient lunch alternatives for the mall’s internal operations.
“There are approximately 900 people among internal employees and Mal Pesona Square tenants. This represents significant potential to boost MSMEs. They don’t need to leave the area for meals, they can eat in the same building which is more efficient,” they explained.
Aesthetic Kiosks with Depok Batik Motifs
This cafeteria at Pesona Square stands out thanks to its unique design. Unlike ordinary cafeterias, each tenant uses aesthetic kiosks featuring distinctive Depok batik motifs. These kiosks are the work of the Depok City Trade and Industry Office since the 2019 fiscal year.
Beyond aesthetics, cleanliness and tidiness are the management’s primary concerns. The management emphasized their commitment to hygiene. “We also separate dirty kitchens, so there’s no dishwashing activity at the kiosks to maintain hygiene,” they stated firmly.
A department head warmly welcomed this initiative, giving high appreciation and praising the cafeteria as a place that’s “nice, with specific locations, tasty food, and pocket-friendly prices.”
They added that this cooperative model of providing city-owned MSME kiosks has also been adopted by other major shopping centers, such as TSM Cibubur and Margo City, showing positive synergy between the private sector and the Depok government.
