BEKASI CITY – Coinciding with the October 2025 Language Month, SMP Negeri 34 Bekasi City launched a Digital Library on Thursday. The digital library at SMPN 34 is the first at the public junior high school level throughout Bekasi City.
With the presence of the digital library, SMPN 34 Bekasi opens a new chapter in the world of education, making literacy closer and more accessible to the younger generation.
The principal explained that the digital library was born from the need for a broader and unlimited reading space.
“Our physical library is limited. If it accommodates more than 20-25 students, the atmosphere becomes less comfortable. That’s where the idea emerged to provide a digital reading space. Children can access reading materials, textbooks, and literacy through their gadgets, anytime and anywhere,” the principal stated.
In addition to providing digital access, the school also built creative reading spaces such as Reading Gazebo, Reading Tribune, and Reading Tent that students can use during breaks or while waiting for class.
According to the principal, this innovation is not only to facilitate SMPN 34 students but is also expected to inspire other schools in Bekasi City.
“The hope is that this digital library can foster a love of reading culture among students. We would be even more grateful if it could inspire other schools. We have the slogan SASESASI (One Semester One Innovation), so both teachers and students must continue to create breakthroughs,” they concluded.
