August Revolution

The August Revolution refers to the 1945 uprising in which the Viet Minh, led by Ho Chi Minh, successfully seized power from the French colonial administration and the Japanese occupation forces. It is a foundational moment in modern Vietnamese history, marking the country’s break from colonial rule.

National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

The National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, celebrated annually on September 2nd, commemorates President Hồ Chí Minh’s reading of the Declaration of Independence in 1945, which formally established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. This event marked the end of French colonial rule and the beginning of the country’s modern independent state, though it was followed by decades of war before reunification was achieved in 1975.
