At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation in political security and defense affairs, as well as the international and regional situation.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that China is ready to work with Cambodia to develop the 2+2 dialogue mechanism into a strategic platform to strengthen political security and defense cooperation. Additionally, Beijing is prepared to provide platforms for Cambodia and Thailand to exchange information more comprehensively and effectively to resolve border issues.
Meanwhile, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun affirmed that China is ready to coordinate with Cambodia to deepen and consolidate mutual trust in military security.
For his part, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn emphasized that China is Cambodia’s most reliable friend and highly appreciated Beijing’s comprehensive support for Phnom Penh.
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Tea Seiha stated that Cambodia is ready to actively seek new directions for cooperation and promote stronger bilateral relations.
At the meeting, the two sides also agreed to deepen cooperation in law enforcement and defense, jointly combat threats, and protect cybersecurity. They supported the resolution of regional disputes through dialogue, opposed unilateral coercive actions, and committed to maintaining global free trade as well as international justice and fairness.
