Nuclear Inspection System

The Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority confirmed the full implementation of its regulatory powers, aiming to ensure the highest levels of safety and reliability in all nuclear and radiological activities and facilities.

This implementation represents a strategic step aimed at protecting human health and environmental safety, and establishing the Kingdom as a leading model in compliance with international standards.

The Authority clarified that the regulatory system for nuclear and radiological uses grants it clear and direct powers to effectively carry out its oversight tasks.

Facility and Activity Assessment

Among these tasks is the establishment and implementation of an advanced and systematic inspection program, specifically designed to assess facilities and activities based on their potential risk levels, ensuring that oversight efforts focus on the most important and sensitive aspects.

In this context, the Authority’s specialized inspection teams conduct continuous monitoring and oversight tours to verify in the field the compliance of all facilities and activities with approved regulations and systems.

This measure aims to ensure that practices fully comply with safety and security requirements and prevent any violations that may pose risks.

No Tolerance for Violations

The Authority emphasized that it will not tolerate any violations detected during inspections, as the system authorizes it to immediately document and address these violations, paving the way for appropriate regulatory actions.

This includes the authority to conduct necessary investigations and issue official notices, up to applying corrective or punitive measures when any regulatory breaches are confirmed.

The Authority operates within this framework in full coordination with relevant judicial authorities, while respecting the jurisdiction of the Public Prosecution regarding criminal investigations, reflecting the integrated institutional approach followed by the state to ensure the rule of law and achieve justice in this vital and strategic sector.
