The head of the Volunteering Association’s board confirmed that the association is launching a national initiative to integrate approximately 1.5 million volunteers from various backgrounds and age groups into efforts to combat human trafficking crimes.
She noted coordination with several relevant entities, including the Prisons Administration and the Human Rights Commission, to strengthen institutional cooperation.
This was announced during an awareness event hosted by the regional Chamber of Commerce, coinciding with the International Day Against Human Trafficking, with representatives from all relevant government agencies in attendance.
Human Rights Commission
There is a serious effort to establish strategic partnerships to integrate volunteers of all age groups into this national cause.
The association is keen on collaborating with all relevant entities, holding preliminary meetings with the Prisons Administration and the Human Rights Commission to develop a joint framework ensuring effective volunteer participation.
Cross-Border Crime
The event, which began with an opening speech, emphasized the importance of institutional and societal efforts to combat this cross-border crime.
The meeting included awareness segments, such as an educational film screening and participant recognition, followed by specialized discussions. The first session covered national efforts against human trafficking, the second highlighted the Public Prosecution’s role, the third discussed the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development’s initiatives, and the fourth addressed the Ministry of Islamic Affairs’ contributions.
The event concluded with an open discussion on challenges and potential solutions, stressing the need for continued coordination among stakeholders and intensified awareness campaigns. Hosting this meeting at the regional Chamber of Commerce underscores the private sector’s role in supporting national initiatives and enhancing community partnerships to address human rights issues, particularly human trafficking.
