The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority successfully thwarted two attempts to smuggle a quantity of amphetamine drugs (Captagon), totaling 301,325 pills, which were found hidden in two vehicles entering the Kingdom through the Al-Haditha crossing and King Fahd Bridge.
It was explained that in the first attempt, the interception of 209,759 pills hidden inside the cavity of a spare tire of a vehicle coming through the King Fahd Bridge crossing was achieved. In the second attempt, the interception of 91,566 pills found hidden inside cavity parts of a bus that entered the Kingdom through the Al-Haditha crossing was accomplished.
Tightening Customs Control
After completing the seizure operation, coordination was made with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the seized items, resulting in the arrest of the recipient inside the Kingdom.
It was confirmed that the authority continues to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports and stands ready to confront smuggling attempts, achieving one of the main pillars of its strategy: enhancing community security and protection by reducing attempts to smuggle such harmful substances and other prohibited items.
The authority encourages everyone to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by communicating through the designated security reporting number (1910) or via email and international number (009661910). Through these channels, the authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Unified Customs System with complete confidentiality, offering a financial reward to the informant if the report information is correct.
