American company “Google” has announced the launch of a new feature called “Favorite Sources,” designed to give users greater control over news search results by allowing them to choose which websites they prefer to see in the “Top Stories” section.
The company stated that the feature is currently available in India and the United States, with plans to expand to other countries later. This feature enables users to add their preferred websites so that their news appears more prominently in the “Top Stories” section and in a dedicated space titled “From Your Sources” within the search results page.
Google clarified that there is no limit to the number of sources that can be selected, noting that early testers mostly added more than four sources. Although these websites will appear more frequently, search results will still include content from other sites.
To add a favorite source, users can click the icon next to the “Top Stories” section when searching for a trending topic, then select their preferred website and reload the results.
The company emphasized that this feature not only benefits users but also provides publishers with greater visibility opportunities, especially given the impact of artificial intelligence technologies on traffic to news websites.
