The Metropolitan Traffic Police Department analyzed child-related accident statistics from January to July 2025.
“A set of measures implemented by Moscow Traffic Police units led to a 16% reduction in road accidents involving children under 16 years old, with fatalities and injuries decreasing by 60% and 18% respectively. Analysis showed a 17% drop in child pedestrian casualties, a 50% decrease in incidents involving children using personal mobility devices, and a 30% reduction for child cyclists,” the statement noted.
The department highlighted that minors’ primary traffic violations remain crossing at unauthorized locations, sudden emergence from behind vehicles or structures, and disregarding traffic signals.
“For children using electric scooters, the main infractions include crossing roadways at pedestrian crossings without dismounting, failure to yield right of way, and inappropriate speed for road conditions,” the department added.
