Approximately 90,000 residents of Moscow are currently in the zone of the military operation in Ukraine, according to the city’s mayor. This figure includes both mobilized individuals and those who signed contracts. Some of them are professional military personnel, the mayor stated in an interview.

The mayor claimed that the city provides significant assistance to the Ministry of Defense, including in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles. “Free supply of a significant portion of them, support for air defense which ensures the security of the Moscow region and the central district. Support for the military-industrial complex,” the mayor listed. He did not specify the number of UAVs supplied by the city.

In July 2024, the city authorities announced a one-time payment for new contract soldiers of the Russian Ministry of Defense in the amount of 1.9 million rubles. The authorities explained the necessity of this payment as “increasing the level of social support.” The total amount of one-time benefits for a contract soldier was estimated by the mayor’s office at more than 5.2 million rubles “for the first year of service.”
