Moscow launches project on proactive endoscopic screenings
Such examinations help detect gastrointestinal diseases and precancerous conditions at an early stage.
Four years ago, the first city endoscopy center opened.
“Residents now receive high-quality gastrointestinal diagnostics in the most comfortable conditions. As a result, cancer cases are more frequently detected at the earliest stages,” said the Mayor of Moscow.
Shortly afterward, three more endoscopy centers began operating—at the City Clinical Hospital, the Moscow Multidisciplinary Clinical Center, and the Moscow Clinical Research Center.
The centers have already conducted over 700,000 examinations, detecting more than 4,000 malignant tumors at zero or early stages.
All procedures are performed using the most precise equipment under mild sedation to minimize patient discomfort. The time spent in the endoscopy center does not exceed two hours.
About a month ago, a new pilot project for proactive endoscopic examinations was launched. These help identify gastrointestinal diseases at early stages, as well as precancerous conditions.
Moscow residents who have not undergone gastroscopy or colonoscopy in several years can now schedule examinations. Over 20,000 people have already participated.
